The Mayor of Folsom Street! The exhibit at the Center for Sex and Culture opens on Friday and this is installation week. So, here’s the sneak! Above, memorial Leather Jacket by Bill Bowers. Bill is a former Cockette and long-time Queer Underground couturier. Cool art kid Rik Lee is doing his website these days. Check it out! He’s even done stage wear for Keith Richards the Rolling Stone. Dig! Alan dressed Metal bands and did foundation garments for punk fashion queen Vivienne Westwood, so having Bill’s tribute jacket as a centerpiece for this show is pure copacetic.
An assortment of “smalls” – prior to installation. Lots of stories, here!
Worn Levi’s 501s, the crotch has been mended with leather and has worn through yet AGAIN! Damn, Dad. With Malebox jockstrap and an assortment of “friendship” pins, including one from The 15 Association. Alan, the original “Mr. S” was at the founding meeting, and was a long-time honorary member of this 35 year-old San Francisco-based men’s S/m fraternity.

Chain cage. Works like a full body Chinese finger trap. Poster art from London scene.
Barbering strop and antique calipers. No dungeon should be without.
Detour. Repurposed floatation device or boat bumper. More chain.
Good advice! Feeding tray. Corner of the main cage. Cozy.
Many a night many a day. Locked up safe and away. Those who dig cages find it a nice stay.
Dubious history, great Novy art and duct tape.
Bear flag and medical exam tables.
Sling of course. For a St. Andrew’s Cross click here
Another cage. Faux bamboo.
And a head cage. Want a pear tree? It’s in the orchard…

San Francisco Pride Leather Marshall Steve Gaynes at The 15 Association’s beer bust at the SF Eagle. Gaynes will be pulled by a human pony in a cart up Market Street, heading up the Leather contingent at what promises to be the biggest, most festive Pride ever. You know why! This is the year to march. Gaynes is a local businessman, active in the community, a fraternal member of The 15, husband of artist Richard Bolingbroke, and Dad to a few lucky boys. A well-deserved honor!

California’s Saratoga Springs
used to be a stagecoach stop. That was way
back in the 19th century day. Now it is a “retreat and conference center.” Yoga retreats, raves and weddings are part of the draw, but they also host Leather and S/m Club Runs. The 15 Association
does the annual Boot Camp run every June. Leather Levi Weekend
does a mixed ‘Twisted Summer Camp’ run in August, and this year, a new mens’ run called Gear Up
premieres in late July.
All that hard play can be hard work, and the deeper it gets, the realer it becomes. From degradation to grace and back again, turning forever on itself like a mobius strip. Beat, Beat-Up, Beatitude: words to fly by from the jam-sweet lips of angel-headed hipsters. Top or bottom, sometimes retreat is a good option. For those times, just outside the dungeon (aka The Heart Lodge) mildly hidden in the landscaping, a small magical nishikigoi (koi) pond waits. A rock ledge provides enough room for a semi-lotus, and a fine venue for adventures in ego dissolution. Flash of Orange. Take me…OM…country roads…splash sky water…gone.

Fukya! JoJo Mendoco c2011
“Let’s enjoy G-Men’s way.” New from JoJo Mendoco. This one is directly inspired by the Japanese G-Men series. Mainly manga for gay men, G-Men focuses on Bara (Bears), Gaten-Kai (Blue-Collar Men) and other masculine types. G-Men features photographic material as well as cartoons and personal ads. Mangaka (manga artist) Gengorah Tagame is a driving force behind this hot series. More on him soon. Very visual in its impact, no reading knowledge of Japanese is needed to enjoy G-Men’s way!

San Francisco’s 15 Association enjoyed a day at the Dore, or Up Your Alley street fair. The 15 Association is a social and sexual fraternity for men who engage in BDSM. Booth space was generously provided by Stop Aids, which has been working to prevent HIV transmission among all gay and bisexual men in San Francisco through multicultural, community-based organizing since 1985.
