Urban Ore Men’s Toilet Art – Do You Give a Flying Fuck?

20140608-150805-54485096.jpg
Art at Urban Ore in Oakland. We were shopping for a grate for a koi pond cover and a urinal for the Willie Walker memorial Fountain. Found the latter not the former. “Fountain” is a Duchampian euphemism. Water boy historian Walker had a final request. More on that later. For more on this flying fucker, click here.

Hey, Yoo! Great Korean Neo-Pop Public Art: Spider-Man with Morning Wood!

20140608-125709-46629510.jpg
Artist Eunsuk Yoo recently removed his sculptural installation of Spider-man sporting a clearly visible erection. His other choice was to modify it, which he chose not to do. He explained his impetus for making the scandalous piece of art:

“I wanted apply the natural physical phenomenon to a superhero depict whats’s natural in the morning without lies and superficial-ness in a comical way.”

Sounds good to us! He can climb the trees in our forest any time. For a mid-century Japanese Batman taking it up the ass, click here. Really.

Shhh…. Sneak! Preview…of The Mayor of Folsom Street.

20140603-151119-54679517.jpg
The Mayor of Folsom Street! The exhibit at the Center for Sex and Culture opens on Friday and this is installation week. So, here’s the sneak! Above, memorial Leather Jacket by Bill Bowers. Bill is a former Cockette and long-time Queer Underground couturier. Cool art kid Rik Lee is doing his website these days. Check it out! He’s even done stage wear for Keith Richards the Rolling Stone. Dig! Alan dressed Metal bands and did foundation garments for punk fashion queen Vivienne Westwood, so having Bill’s tribute jacket as a centerpiece for this show is pure copacetic.

An assortment of “smalls” – prior to installation. Lots of stories, here!

Worn Levi’s 501s, the crotch has been mended with leather and has worn through yet AGAIN! Damn, Dad. With Malebox jockstrap and an assortment of “friendship” pins, including one from The 15 Association. Alan, the original “Mr. S” was at the founding meeting, and was a long-time honorary member of this 35 year-old San Francisco-based men’s S/m fraternity.

Godzilla and King Kong make out on Bearded Bear Chest.

A bit of politically charged inter-species homoerotic textile, tastefully decorating a bit of ursine chest. End of the world monster love rules. Ok! Photo Gay Highwaymen. shot in the patio at the Forest Club in Ukiah.

Happy Birthday, Harvey. You would have been 84 years old. And yesterday was the 35th anniversary of the White Night Riots. The Texan was there and had this to say about that: “I was there. Much has changed. If I were in San Francisco today I would throw Flowers at City Hall!”

Hey, Hippie Birdy, Harvey. Here’s something for you: words, words, words…now glowing pixels maybe making a mark in the brightly-lit on-line world of today. No: no apologies.

What is writing? Staining sheets. While écriture is understood as operating on a symbolic level, the physical act of mark-making is grounded in materiality. Ink on paper, cum on the bedspread and bloody clothing of all sorts share the pull of the gaze…

Shop Sears…really! Young painter Justin Sears cool quirky big art on wood.

20140310-134944.jpg
Originally from California, 24-year old Justin Sears lives in NYC now. He does fairly large-scale realistic illustrative pieces on wood. No color splash, here, and no wall-to-wall paint. The narrow color range is all in the foreground, while the wood supports provide all the negative space. Subject matter is men, myth, masculinity with a distinctly surreal edge. His big portraits, like this one of a hot ash dude, are fairly strait-forward, while his historical and re-workings of classic themes bring most of the twists. He describes his work as a “masculine mix of industrialized pop art on organic surfaces.” See more at his website. Oh, he designs leather clothing, too. Cool!

Strange and sexy shelf Life – Dad of Dads and soiled Spanking…seriously.

Good schooling on how to make and keep stuff clean. Multiple editions, this one is early, plus limited vintage xerox and plus one – one-off paint over 19 c print. Quality, condition and display make a hoard into an exhibit. Oh, yeah. That plus what the shit sells for. D’uh. So Sez Homer and the Homo-ner and thee Prophat…heh…
