Folsom, Dore and Pride aren’t the only fairs where you can see bears! Smokey is a traditional VIP at the annual Blackberry Festival in Covelo, California. Here, he greets an admirer and hangs with a bud from the forestry service.

House of the Naked Davids! Campy LA Landmark up for Sale

Norwood Young's "House of the Naked Davids"

Nineteen naked “Davids” festoon the Hancock Park residence of Norwood Young. The huge reproductions of Michelangelo’s famous statue have not always been popular with Young’s neighbors. His decorating choices have made him the subject of several lawsuits over the years. He notes of the sale: “It’s up to the new owner to decide what to do with all the David statues.” For the LA Times article, plus a video of the strange spread, click here.

Morning Frog. Really.

More berries

Unidentified roadside berries. They look good, but also possibly poisonous… Lots in bloom this time of year, but best not to try any unidentified forest fruit.

About to cross the Canadian border…going up to BC for the International Two Spirit Gathering. I don’t want to pay roaming charges, so this may be my last post for a few days.
