The squatting man in the May 21st Rapture posters looks suspiciously like el caganer, the little squatting shitting paisano, which is Catalan’s famous nativity figure. Connection? Coincidence? This billboard is in San Francisco, hanging on the side of the building that also houses The Lone Star…

May 17th is International Day Against HOmophobia. I.D.A.H.O. is a francophone project, with roots in Paris and branches in Quebec, but events are planned around the world. Kiss-Ins are a popular theme. San Francisco’s Gary Virginia is planning a Pink Party at the Cafe Flore from 5 – 7 pm. The Flore, or the Cafe Hairdo as it has long been known to locals, is located at the northeast corner of Market and Noe. Come hang out and make out! The Las Vegas version of a run is Smokeout, an informally structured event now in its 11th year. Smokeout is billed as “an uncomplicated, fun-filled weekend in Las Vegas for Cigar Studs, Pipe Studs, Bikers, Leathermen, Bears and their friends from all over the world.” No run fee; events are on a pay/per basis and include dinners, cigar parties, bar nights, a Leather party, friendly low-stakes poker, a rollercoaster outing, a piss party, and a motorcycle ride hosted by the Desert Brotherhood M.C. Good times poolside at the Hotel Alexis Park Resort. Great times in the suites.
