Shoes over the Armory

A pair of shoes strung over a wire above the old Armory building in the Mission (now home to studios), with a San Francisco flag waving in the background. I’m not sure whose idea it was to throw the first pair of shoes over a high wire, but it now seems to be a trend, of sorts. Urban art, perhaps? Not sure if this qualifies, but I thought it was worth posting.

  1. This is a trend older than you, kid. According to urban legend the “street” meaning of sneakers over the wire is: “Drugs for Sale.”
